Phoenix International Raceway- Located at 7602 S Avondale Blvd. is a one-mile, tri-oval automobile racing track that hosts NASCAR Nextel Cup, Busch Series, and Craftsman Truck Series races in April and November.
Estella Mountain Regional Park- Located at 14805 W. Vineyard Ave. This is a great place to pack a lunch and hit the road for some wonderful hiking, horseback riding, and mountain biking on more than 19,000 arces of Arizona's most beautiful desert. This is located right next to PIR.
White Tank Mountain Regional Park- Located at 13025 N. White Tank Mtn. Rd in Wadell AZ, which is only 10 miles northwest of Avondale. Open all year. One of Maricopa County's largest parks with over 30,000 acres of biking, camping, hiking, horseback riding, picnicking, stargazing, RV's, and more.
Wild Life World Zoo- Located at 16501 W Northern -about 10 to 15 minutes from Avondale. The Zoo offers Arizona's largest collection of exotic animals with over 2400 individual animals representing more than 400 exotic and endangered species. The Zoo also has Arizona's first Aquarium.
Luke Air Force Base- Just north of Avondale,Luke Air Force Base welcomes the public to Luke Days, one of the most diverse air shows in America. The next air show won't be until 2011, but, on most days you can watch the jets train by looking to the north.
